| mr2oc highland run april 06. Inverness, Ullapool, Applecross, Gairlock, Strathcarron and so many other fab places |
find below the pics I / my passenger took while on the most stunning weekend of driving I've ever been on. This was through the mr2oc club and was just brilliant. Stunning views roads and the company was great.
Started off by driving to inverness via Loch Lomond (A84) and followed that all the way to Crainlarich then to Fort William (A82) the on to the Caledonian Canal finally Inverness. Quick refill of petrol while Calum emptied his bladder of 2 bottle of coke (why he drank them on a long car journey just escapes me!) Then up the A9 for a bit then onto the A835 heading to the Aultguish Inn / Hotel. There we stayed for Friday / Saturday night.
Highlight of the Saturday drive was the run up the Applecross Road. This road has a sign at the bottom saying not suitable for learner drivers, oh it also climbs up 2000ft in a mere few miles then drops back down again. Totally brilliant experience but get it wrong and its no going anywhere but down a sheer drop. If you know the Corsica stages in Colin McRae rally game, thats the best description of this road I can give you.
Sunday was a drive through Gairloch along the coast and then down to Strathcarron. Stunning roads and some amazing views / beaches. Then after lunch the drive to Loch Ness and back down to Glasgow via Fort William
Hope you enjoy the pics cause gawd knows I loved the whole adventure
