well I decided sunday gone was a day for a drive somewhere. So staying off the booze I had a lateish night but was good to drive. I got up on sunday morning 530am and checked the weather forecast for the road up to Inverness. Sunny all the way. Perfect.
So I got my stuff together, radio, shades, accident blackspot detector and wallet for that all important petrol. Got some petrol then headed up to Inverness. But first, its a T-bar day. Yes indeed for a change I took out the T-bars and enjoyed some open top motoring. Turning onto the A82 I quickly left Glasgow behind and headed into the countryside. I passed Balloch and headed past Loch Lomond on the run to Tarbet. Its an ok road but nothing great though at 7am on a Sunday there are very few cars about. Progress was swift.
Quickly onto Tarbet and turn right to continue along the A82 to Crianlarich. This stretch of road has a real bad section. The first 15-20 miles or so are just rubbish. Even on dry days the road has wet patches as the water runs off the hills onto the road and into the loch. Care is exercised here otherwise its a show stopping accident. Once past Crianlarich however it's the run to Tyndrum. Lovely piece of road. Not fast just flowing.
Once past Tyndrum it is the run to Glen Coe and this is simply stunning scenery. One of the wonders of the world, well at least it should be. Just after the Bridge of Orchy I took this photo from the carpark over looking the valley that contains Loch Tulla. The photo doesn't do justice to the view so you'll just have to visit it

Onwards through Glen Coe and the car is just fantastic. Really enjoying driving it and quickly we reach North Ballachulish and Loch Leven is flat. I mean completely no movement on the water. Stunning

From here its a short run to Fort William and then onwards on the A82 still north to the Caledonian Canals and some stunning roads. Was really bend swinging the car alongside Loch Lochy and Loch Ness. Fast flowing 3rd and 4th gear corners with the odd 2nd gear hairpin thrown in. The car felt great and I was in hog heaven. The punch out of the corners the bark from the exhaust the wind in the hair (what I have left anyway) and the feeling as the car grips through the corners. So much better than I am but hey I aint complaining.
All too soon I'm approaching Inverness after a stunning 3 hr drive with the T-bars out, a record for me I think. I pull over and send a text to the local Inverness crew, let them know I'm 20 minutes out of Inverness. 10am I pull into the petrol station in Inverness and almost immediately get the text replies. Your in Inverness already?? But it's only 10am!! Indeedy 177miles of stunning roads in 3.5 hours. And still the sun was shining. lunch arrangements were made and people started stirring.
